Try These Memory Boosting Excercises

Aside from a healthy eating routine and regular exercise, there are a few approaches you can take to give your mind its own workout routine without emptying your wallet. For example, reading the morning newspaper is a great exercise. Simple Sudoku and word games, or reading news articles and books can keep your mind engaged.

Below are some brain exercises to sharpen your mental skills:

Memory Test: Make a list of names, confusing words, a list of grocery items, or anything comes to mind. Memorize it and try to recall it an hour or so later, and notice how many things you still remember.

Listen to Music: Take some time to listen to songs that relieve your mental stress.

Tough riddles: Try to solve tough puzzles like word games or number puzzles.

Math in your mind: Think of a question and try to solve it in your mind without the use of any aid of pen, paper, or computer.

Creative word pictures: Visualize the spelling of a word in your mind, then think about other words that start (or end) with the same two letters.

Challenge your senses: When eating, try to recognize individual ingredients in your meal, including herbs and spices.

Exercise: Do regular activities that use both body and brain such as yoga or running. It will help to keep you mind engaged and keep you physically fit.

Draw a map from memory: Memorize difficult maps of an area you’ve visited before, the places you would like to go, or any map. Try to draw a map of that area yourself. Repeat this exercise each time you visit a new location.

Refine your hand-eye coordination: Try to adopt a new hobby that involves fine motor skills, such as drawing, sketching, painting, assembling a puzzle, etc.

Hopefully, this information can help you realize that you can take control of your brain’s health, just like you can prevent heart disease or any other health issue by taking specific actions.
